Purpose

For the heavy object impact test of lithium primary batteries, other primary batteries, lithium-ion batteries (applied to digital electronic products such as mobile phones, laptops and video cameras), as well as nickel-metal hydride, nickel-cadmium and lead-acid batteries (applied to products such as electric tools, toys and electric bicycles).

Technical Specifications and Requirements

1 Scope of Application

1.1 Applicable Standards

The battery heavy object impact test device complies with the provisions and requirements for heavy object impact tests specified in standards including GB8897.4-2002, GB/T18287-2000, IEC60086-4:2000, UL1642:2006, SN/T1414.1-2004, SN/T1414.3-2004 and GB 31241-2014.

1.2 Test Requirements

The provisions and requirements for heavy object impact tests in the above standards are slightly different, and the battery heavy object impact test device shall meet all the following test requirements:
  1. Place the test sample battery on a flat surface, set a rod with a diameter of 15.8mm at the center of the sample, and let a weight of 9.1kg drop onto the sample from a height of 610mm.

  2. Place the battery on the impact test bench, and let a 10kg weight fall freely from a height of 1m to impact the battery fixed in the fixture (the largest surface of the battery shall be perpendicular to the bench surface).

2 Main Technical Parameters and Functions

2.1 Main Technical Parameters

  1. Weight lifting height: 300mm ~ 1200mm

  2. Height tolerance range: 0 ~ +5mm

  3. Bottom area of working chamber: 600mm×600mm

  4. Maximum applicable sample size: 500mm

2.2 Main Functions

  1. The battery heavy object impact test device adopts a fully enclosed box structure, and the impact working chamber is isolated from the mechanical parts, electrical circuits and other parts of the device body (except for the lifting shaft part of the hoisting device).

  2. The impact working chamber is equipped with flameproof and exhaust functions, capable of instantly releasing the pressure generated by sample explosion and discharging the smoke and dust produced by the explosion.

  3. The working chamber of the battery heavy object impact test device has moderate corrosion resistance and easy cleaning performance, which can withstand the erosion of corrosive liquid generated by battery explosion and facilitate cleaning.

  4. The device supports on-site control mode; the lifting height of the weight can be preset and displayed, and the weight release process is completed through automatic control.

  5. A bulletproof observation window is installed on the impact working chamber to monitor the impact process.

  6. The impact working chamber is equipped with pressure monitoring and acousto-optic alarm functions to judge and give an alarm for the occurrence of an explosion.
