Product Overview

Overview of Battery Crush & Nail Penetration Tester:
This tester is used for crush testing of various types of automotive traction batteries, including Ni-MH batteries and lithium batteries in cell, module, and pack configurations. In accordance with QC/T 743-2006 Lithium-ion Batteries for Electric Vehicles and QC/T 744-2006 Nickel-metal Hydride Batteries for Electric Vehicles, the machine simulates situations in which power batteries may be subjected to compression during use, and reproduces the possible conditions that may occur when a battery is crushed.

During the test, the battery is placed between two crush plates. A hydraulic cylinder applies pressure to the test sample to induce internal short circuit. The machine automatically returns when the voltage between the battery terminals drops to zero or near zero.
Alternatively, the battery may be compressed until it deforms to 85% of its original dimension and held for a period of time, then further compressed to 50% of its original dimension, and finally returned to the initial position. After either test mode is completed, the battery is judged as qualified if it does not catch fire or explode, as required by the relevant standards.
